Toptech Transport and Logistics, the leading road safety management and ISO certified company in Africa has completed a three week Training of Trainers programme for Ghana Police as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme for its 26th anniversary celebrations.

The participants were taking through various topics such as vehicle maintenance, trip planning, defensive driving, vehicle instrumentation, Legal Obligations of drivers among others. Medical and other consultants delivered lectures on Driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, Fatigue and Fire management and First Aid.

The programme shall enhance the Training of the Police in handling both Saloon and HDV drivers. Mr. Cecil Garbrah, the CEO of Toptech and a road safety advocate, said it was necessary to transfer knowledge to Ghana Police for new recruits to study the rules of our roads, before passing out from the police training school. This will improve their skills and be roadsafety compliant.

ISO 9001: 2015 certificates were presented to the participants. Toptech also donated a laptop with all presentations as well as two dual pedalled vehicles to the Ghana Police. On behalf of the Inspector General of Police, The Director General – Services, COP Enoch Adutwum Bediako, thanked the management and staff of Toptech for its kind gesture and reiterated that Ghana Police will continue to partner with Toptech Transport and Logistics to set up this model in all other regions. As part of the #GhanaWebRoadSafety series, Ghana Web engaged Toptech’s Driving School in an interview discussion on a typical day at a Driving Institution and why it is absolutely necessary for a Learner Driver to enroll with a Driving School before getting on the road.

The interview involved Driving Instructors and Executive Director of Toptech Ghana, Cecil Garbrah.

Toptech Ghana hosted professional drivers of GCB for a 2 Day Defensive driving training programme. The objective of the training was to refresh and educate drivers to understand the responsibility of their profession and be updated on new trends in vehicles and road safety.

They were also trained on how to communicate effective with staff, superiors in order to make them not just good drivers but right drivers.

The training proved effective because of the feedback from the trainees and their intention to impart what they had learnt to their fellow drivers and also in all works of their lives.

Delegates from MIDA, USAID, B&FT and SYSMEX participated in a 2-Days Defensive Driving Training Programme at Toptech Ghana, facilitated by experts from the Transport Industry.

Delegates were taken through theory and practical sessions of all that defensive driving entails. Delegates received training under topics such us Speed Management, Principles and Vehicle Dynamics, Vehicle Electronics, Trip Planning, Vehicle Maintenance and much more.

Overall, delegates where impressed by the training presentation and cafeteria services offered to them. They promised to suggest an extension of training days to their respective management to enable them cover all the course materials thoroughly.

Toptech was pleased to welcome Mr. Jason Finch, a Project Manager from Transaid, UK to our office at the beginning of June 2021 to discuss their newly launched programme to enhance Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) driver training standards in Ghana.

Transaid is an international development NGO with over 20 years of experience working in the transport and logistics sector. They have a significant amount of experience in developing HGV training standards at a national and regional level, and strengthening driver training capacity with partner training institutions across Africa.

As one of Ghana’s leading driver training institutions, Toptech has welcomed this initiative, and is keen to see it succeed. Speaking about the programme, Mr. Cecil Garbrah, Toptech Executive Director, commented that ‘our professional drivers are the lifeblood of our economy, and this initiative will help ready our transporter sector for the next phase of our national growth, while improving road safety across the country’.

Toptech is set to support Transaid in the development of the new HGV driver training standard for HGV drivers, and we call on the those working in the professional driver training space to rally behind this programme.

CECIL GARBRAH – Executive Director and founder of Toptech Transport & Logistics speaks to defensive driving on our roads on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM.

This discussion is as a result of the many road accidents happening on our roads every year, and the bad attitude of drivers on the road and the lack of enforcement of traffic laws and regulations.

Toptech Ghana in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and MTTD embarked on a traffic decongestion exercise at Labone on the 12th and 15th of March 2021.

The call for this exercise is due to the heavy traffic that builds up later in the day from Police Headquarters, Danquah Circle roundabout through to Labone and its environs. This traffic is caused by the U Turn along the Labone road, with vehicles moving in from Nyaniba estates and Danquah Circle towards Labone.

The exercise, involved, temporarily blocking two U-Turns on the Danquah Circle and Labone Junction road in order to monitor traffic flow. Traffic was redirected to the proper U-Turn  at the end of the road stretch which is close to the La General Hospital which about a kilometer away.

The exercise proved successful, since it really improved traffic flow from Police Headquarters, Danquah Circle and Nyaniba Esates Osu as well as from Labadi to Labone.

Drivers and Road Users on the road where happy about the free flow of traffic and called for the decongestion exercise to be implemented by the Ministry of Roads and Transport and MTTD.

A 2-Day Defensive Driving Training Programme was help over the weekend for Professional Drivers from Sysmex West and Central Africa Ltd.

Training Programme was hosted at Toptech’s Training Facility on the 5th and 6th of February 2021.

Delegates were trained on Topics such as Causes of Road Accidents, Speed Management, Vehicle Dynamics and much more.

Delegates, after the training, shared what they made of the programme and how it has benefited them in becoming better and more efficient in their Driving Career.
