Two Day Defensive Driving Programme for Corporate Drivers

Toptech strongly recommends that management of corporate institutions must endorse a compulsory yearly refresher driver training programme for all staff, to improve the driving standards within the company. This will go a long way to save the company’s investments, and in addition, reduce road traffic accidents, many of which are avoidable.

Toptech Ghana, an ISO certified road safety, transport, and logistics management consulting firm, is offering a 2-day training in defensive driving for corporate drivers. Dubbed the “Defensive Driving Programme for Corporate VIP Drivers”, the training will equip drivers in protocol and defensive driving and trip planning.

Toptech Ghana has over 27 years of experience in providing quality training in Driver Training, Security, Health and Safety Training in the sub-region of Africa. We are also trainers of the World Bank, Africa Region from the year 2011.

ISO certificates are presented to all participants after our training sessions. Executive Director, Cecil Ebow Garbrah, tells TV3 that the course is designed to meet the demands of corporate entities who demand par excellence driver-behaviour. Toptech has trained over 100 companies in defensive driving and off road driving programmes. Training has yielded positive results to all the companies.

Drivers who fail to plan their trips, have in the past years have had worse health conditions. This Mr. Garbrah said, has brought about the increase of stress levels due to fatigue management. Although the LI 2180 states that drivers must take a rest after every 4 hours, I advice that drivers must plan to a rest of five minutes after every two hours.

“For instance if you are travelling with your boss to Kumasi, your boss must know that compulsorily, you have to stop at a place like Linda Dor for a period of 5-minutes, 10-minutes and that is a compulsory stop where you need to stop, you need to refresh yourself, take in a little bit of exercise and then get into your vehicle. This is all about Protocol Driving,” Mr. Garbrah added.

Participants, as part of the protocol driving, would be taken through handling of official documents such as those from the banks, dressing and personal hygiene.

“The driver must keep himself clean. For instance, you don’t wear a brown shoe and wear a black belt. We are going to do all that training. The pair of trousers that you wear; the sort of shirts that we are looking at and even the singlet so we are going to do much more about personal hygiene,” said Mr. Garbrah.

The cost of the two day programme per participant which includes an ISO Certificate, Breakfast and Lunch, Pen drive of photos, videos, and programme materials is 2,250 cedis.

Spending an amount of about two thousand cedis to train your staff to handle a 2-million-cedi vehicle is the best decision for your company to protect lives as well as to save money.

The programme, which is tailor-made to fit into operations of all companies, will provide a very interactive forum for participants to share their experiences as they learn from top notch resource professionals.

Toptech Ghana to provide ISO certified defensive driving course for corporate companies

Toptech Ghana has over 25 years of experience in providing quality training in transport and logistics, health and road safety. Executive Director, Cecil Ebo Garbrah, tells myjoyonline.com that the course is designed to meet the demands of corporate entities who demand par excellence driver-behaviour.

The Road Traffic Regulations 2012 does not allow a person to drive a car for more than 4 hours without rest or more than 8 hours in a 24-hour period without rest. Mr. Garbrah says the modern day driver must be abreast with provisions in road traffic regulations, and meet employers’ demands without compromising professionalism. “LI 2180 says that you should drive for 2-hours and take a rest for 15-30 minutes.

The pair of trousers that you wear; the sort of shirts that we are looking at and even the singlet so we are going to do much more about personal hygiene,” said Mr. Garbrah.

Participants at the 2-day programme would be provided with breakfast, lunch and snacks, ISO course certificates, handouts and course documents, among others.

Toptech team and MTTD officials temporarily block Labone Junction U Turn to decongest traffic

Traffic Decongestion Exercise at Labone

Toptech Ghana in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and MTTD embarked on a traffic decongestion exercise at Labone on the 12th and 15th of March 2021.

The call for this exercise is due to the heavy traffic that builds up later in the day from Police Headquarters, Danquah Circle roundabout through to Labone and its environs. This traffic is caused by the U Turn along the Labone road, with vehicles moving in from Nyaniba estates and Danquah Circle towards Labone.

The exercise, involved, temporarily blocking two U-Turns on the Danquah Circle and Labone Junction road in order to monitor traffic flow. Traffic was redirected to the proper U-Turn  at the end of the road stretch which is close to the La General Hospital which about a kilometer away.

The exercise proved successful, since it really improved traffic flow from Police Headquarters, Danquah Circle and Nyaniba Esates Osu as well as from Labadi to Labone.

Drivers and Road Users on the road where happy about the free flow of traffic and called for the decongestion exercise to be implemented by the Ministry of Roads and Transport and MTTD.
